The last time I covered The Plight of the Local Abattoir, it was March 2020 – not exactly happier times, I’m sure you can remember. And not for local meat supply chains either.

Unfortunately, the situation is similarly grim now, if not worse. Numbers of small abattoirs are down by a further 10% in the four years since, and not looking like they’ll recove…
